YOU MUST have a burning desire to achieve your dreams/goals! 2. YOU MUST be teachable! No matter what success you’ve had in other business/industry, understand this industry is unique and to succeed you’ll need to be taught! 3. YOU MUST follow a system that is able to be duplicated by anyone! Now notice what isn’t important? Your age, your sex, your race, your high school results, weather you have a degree or not, how much money you make, where you live, what time you wake up, what kind of car you drive, what kind of clothes you like to wear, what kind of a job you have and the list goes on and on which is what makes network marketing so unique! Another unique aspects of YOUR business is the moment you joined you had immediately partnered with a publicly traded company (trades as USNA) that has won many independent accolades (from organization including FORBS, Business Week and Network Marketing Insider) for their business results, product quality and setting the standard in the NWM industry! Not to forget entrepreneurs and financial educators such as Donald Trump, Robert Kiyosaki, Stephen R Covey, Dr Denis Waitley and other encouraging people to build a NWM business to create your dreams and learn vital business skills! Now to more about the 3 things you need to succeed in growing your business! 1. YOU MUST have a burning desire! In the classic book “Think and Grow Rich” author Napoleon Hill writes about developing a “BURNING DESIRE” in the first paragraph of the first chapter of the book! If that doesn’t highlight the important of this, then nothing will! We all either move ‘away from pain’ (“got to get out of this job and fire my boss”) or towards pleasure (building your dream house/s) and at the end of the day it doesn’t matter which one you do so much as you DO IT! How do you do it? Firstly you have to decide on exactly what it is you’re committed to achieving and tie emotion tied to it! If you have no desire/goals/direction you’ll move nowhere. Can you imagine where you’d end up being on a sailboat with no rudder to steer it and give direction? The BDS (business development system) is for recommended steps on quantifying/creating your own goals/dreams Additional books including the ones below, can help greatly in you finding your “WHY”, your burning desire/s! - The Magic of Thinking Big (David Schwartz) - Awaken the Giant Within (Anthony Robbins) - Unlimited Power (Anthony Robbins) - As A Man Thinketh (James Allen) - The Dream that will not Die (Charles Paul Conn) - You Were Born Rich (Bob Proctor) You don’t have to read any of them or all of them, just as much as it takes for you to find out what you really want in your life. As we age our ability to dream and to go after these dreams typically decreases. You’ll remember (or can see if you can’t remember!) as a child ALL you did all day is dream, play and have fun! This basically continues through until high school, where you can ask any kid what he/she wants to do when they finish and they’ll say “professional surfer”, “actress”, “dancer”, “singer”, “doctor”, “TV show host”, etc But what happens? REALITY is what happens (or that’s the excuse some people like to use!) Media, advertising, educational systems, well meaning friends and family, etc all chip away at conditioning us into believing what they want us to believe. Here are some examples you might have heard: - “You’ve got to get a job” - “Media release: latest unemployment figures at an all time low” - “Go to university to get a good, high paying secure job” - “You can’t do that, what will other people think?” But here is some TRUTH for you! - The school and university system teaches us and conditions us to become employees (read Robert Kiyosaki’s book If you want to be rich and happy don’t go to school) or rats in the rat race as author Randy Gage likes to say! - Job stands for Just Over Broke! Ask yourself, does your job pay you enough to live the life you want? How many people do you really think get rich and live their dreams by being an employee? If you lost your job today how long could you maintain your current standard of living? Why does consumer debt continue to rise and rise with no end in sight? And finally, would you continue to do your job if you didn’t have to work? Because, unless you would – that’s not living your dream! - You can do it! (Whatever it so you wish to do) and who cares what other people think! You get that initial idea, that initial thought in your mind because you can do it! It’s our subsequent thoughts, beliefs, influences, paradigms and choices that will determine if we take the necessary action to do it or not - Furthermore, as Brad Sugars says what other people think of us is none of our business! And to extend on that point, Bob Proctor says “2% of people think, 3% of people think they think and 95% of people would rather die than think! So I can tell you what most people are thinking – they’re NOT!” If you’re fearful of going for and living your dreams because of what someone else might think a) your dream is not big enough and b) you probably need to spend time around other people. It’s been said “thinking is the hardest work a person can do, that is why so few engage in it” and it’s hard to disagree. Why else would a person get up when they don’t want to, commute somewhere they don’t want to go, doing something they wouldn’t do for free, in many cases with people they wouldn’t voluntarily spend all day every day with only to trade away the MOST VALUABLE AND LIMITED ASSET IN THE WORLD – YOUR TIME day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year, decade after decade… You get the picture! Reality is what you make of it! As Henry Ford said “if you think you can or think you can’t you’re probably right!” The choice to think big, to THINK REALLY BIG is yours to make each and everyday… 2. YOU MUST be teachable! The key to creating the reality you desire is to ONLY LEARN FROM PEOPLE THAT ARE DOING IT OR HAVE DONE IT THEMSELVES! This means being open to thinking differently, possibly shifting some of your limiting beliefs and being a student again for a period of time Spend time with, read the books, listen to the CD’s and attend the seminars only of people that can teach you something about what they are doing or have done. This is such a critical point and will save you time and effort but accelerate your progress! You’re committed to growing a successful distributorship then read, study and attend all the events where the top associates will be speaking! Find out who they learn from and what books and seminars they attend – then model what they do! Being teachable is as much about learning new knowledge, habits and beliefs as it is about unlearning old or existing knowledge, habits and beliefs. This is critical to understand and be open too, as we are in the business of growing business and moving forward, not convincing… “The teacher will appear when the student is ready…” 3. YOU MUST follow a system that can be duplicated easily by anyone! This is critical for two dominant reasons. Firstly, why reinvent the wheel? And secondly, by your team members being able to easily duplicate what you do, your efforts are essentially multiplied every time a new team members joins your organization and so are theirs! It’s been our experience that those with higher educations (irrespective of field) can sometimes find this most challenging and if that’s you go back and read point 2. You must be teachable again! The more duplication that exists in the way you and your team grow business, the more leverage you have and people will have less ‘need’ for you which increases your time equity! So, the aspects of business you should look to duplicate include (but not limited to): o What you say o What you give o How you do it - Presenting o how you present o using tools including the flip chart, local group presentations, www.myeconference.org, presentation pro, etc - Follow up o When you follow up o How you follow up o How long you follow up for - Training o Having everyone in your team able to do the above o New distributor training o Consistent self improvement o Measure progress by measuring your income or similar objective measure/s By ensuring duplication in the above areas you’re insuring your leverage and their leverage in time and skills! A few interesting points on duplication and success learnt from network marketing industry trainer Tim Sales are: - Poor mans words “I do it myself” - “Wealth is hidden from those that must do it themselves, wealth exposes itself to those patient enough to train others” Habits/Philosophies/Beliefs of Successful Business Builders 1. Encourage you to have your emotional needs meet elsewhere and focus only on meeting your health, time and financial goals here 2. Solely think about and focus on why/how you can success instead of why/how you can’t 3. Fall in love with the process of creating something much bigger than you that can serve you and many others 4. You’re the average of the people you spend most time with in all areas (health, time, income, happiness, etc) – choose your associations wisely 5. you don’t know what you don’t know 6. readers are leaders 7. Understand the concept of ‘knowing vs doing’ – it suggests the worst presentation done is better than the best presentation never done 8. Choose your words and thoughts carefully as no thought lives in your head rent free and the words you use reveal much about you 9. Train your team members to be better than you, but only when they are truly ready to learn 10. Are you going to let fear steal your dreams? Must focus on the prize, not the price. Life is not a dress rehearsal. “Thanks for your opinion but I’m doing this anyway. I have the ability to reject what you say and think what I want” 11. Build fast as it’s too painful to build slowly 12. Thinking is the hardest work a person can do, that is why so few engage in it 13. An opinion should be the result of at thought, not a substitute for it – remember that if you place too much value on other peoples ‘opinions’ 14. What is it that makes you feel complete? What are you missing out on? What are you not giving daily that you should? Stop playing small… 15. When my team do what I did today, will they become successful? 16. You can do it! 17. Yes, you really can! It’s simply a choice that you make and have to remake minute of every hour of every day…
